Becoming a grandparent gave Jamie even more motivation to finish school and reach her goals. She wants her children and grandbaby to see that even when things are difficult, you can keep going.

Jamie is studying Automotive Technology at Greenville Technical College, a field she chose because she has always been fascinated by engines and motors. Her goal is to start working in the automotive industry as soon as possible — hopefully even before she graduates.

Paying for school and personal bills while not being able to work full time has been one of her biggest challenges. Through it all, Jamie has stayed focused, inspired by her family and by her mother, who taught her the importance of hard work and perseverance.

Receiving a scholarship has helped ease some of that financial stress.
