Support: Emergency Needs
Heather M.
“Being a single mother in college is challenging itself. Paying for kits, books, and iPads/computers needed for class is expensive! When a tragedy happened, and someone busted my window and stole everything valuable out of my car, I was devastated. They stole my wallet, my clinic bag with items from my expensive school kit, and my iPad and iPad pencil. I cried so much and had no idea what I was going to do because I needed these items to be successful in my program.
My director told me about the STAR Center and the emergency funding they had. They were so nice and caring and helped me purchase an iPad, iPad pencil, and a $1000 instrument kit. They literally changed my life! Being a single mother in college there was no way I could come up with the money to replace these things. I could barely afford them when I bought them the first time. Helping me replace these items helped me be able to have the money to take care of my son and stay on track with my dental hygiene program. I will forever be thankful for the STAR program and Greenville Tech Foundation.”
