When I first went to college in 2014, I was going through one of the hardest times in my life. I had moved out at 17 with no family to rely on, and for much of that time, I was living in my car with my cat, Iroh. Eventually, I had to leave college.

More than a decade later, I’m back — this time with determination and laser focus. I’m studying Radiologic Technology at Greenville Technical College, working as a phlebotomist and maintaining a 4.0. I wear that 4.0 like a trophy because I know what it took for me to get here.

I’ve always loved anatomy and been fascinated by the circulatory system. My goal is to become an interventional radiologic technologist and be part of a team directly helping save someone’s life. To me, that’s honorable work.

Going back to school as an adult means balancing tuition, rent, bills and work. This scholarship is helping ease some of that financial burden and giving me more room to focus on finishing what I started. Every bit helps.

I’ve come a long way from where I was in 2014, and I’m determined to keep going — all the way to graduation.
